Thirty laptop computers donated by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) were stolen in a break-in at the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs Headquarters sometime between Monday, April 13th and Tuesday, April 14th, 2026.
The Ministry announced that the stolen devices — Dell Pro 16 PC16250 notebook computers — were intended to modernise patient record systems and strengthen service delivery across community clinics in Antigua and Barbuda. Their loss represents a significant blow to ongoing healthcare modernisation efforts and could delay improvements aimed at supporting frontline healthcare workers and enhancing patient care, particularly for vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and individuals managing chronic conditions.
The Ministry expressed deep outrage and disappointment over the incident. The matter has been reported to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, and a full investigation is currently underway.
The public is urged to come forward with any information that may assist investigators, no matter how minor it may seem. The Ministry is also cautioning the public against purchasing or accepting any laptops matching the description and serial numbers listed below. The devices remain the property of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and are not authorised for sale or distribution. Possession of any of the stolen units may carry legal consequences.
