Senator Pearl Quinn-Williams, the United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate for St. John's City East, has declared she is confident of winning the constituency in the April 30 general election. According to Antigua.news, Quinn-Williams claims she has already made up the six-vote margin that separated the two parties in the last contest.
Quinn-Williams charged that the current representative has been absent from the community, leaving the constituency in a state of neglect that residents are eager to reverse.
Constituency cleanliness, she said, is the most pressing concern raised by residents — one she described as unacceptable for an area of its size. Quinn-Williams painted a stark picture of conditions on the ground: blocked gutters filled with stagnant water, bulk waste strewn across communities, and an unbearable stench that residents are forced to endure on a daily basis.
She also directed sharp criticism at current MP Melford Nicholas, questioning how the minister responsible for water and electricity could allow parts of the constituency to go without reliable access to either service.
With less than three weeks remaining before election day, Quinn-Williams said her priority is maintaining a strong and visible presence throughout the constituency.
