The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that applications are open for a regional internship programme offered by the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean (OPANAL), targeting young professionals across the Caribbean.

The programme is open to young diplomats, early-career professionals, and graduate or postgraduate students. It is designed to provide hands-on training in international relations, international law, political science, translation, and information technology.

The five-month internship runs from July 1 to November 27, 2026, and is based in Mexico City. Selected candidates will receive a monthly allowance of US$1,200 along with round-trip airfare. Interns are responsible for securing their own accommodation, meeting Mexican government immigration requirements, and obtaining medical insurance coverage.

The programme forms part of broader efforts to strengthen engagement with Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states and to advance education in nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

Interested applicants must submit their documents by June 4, 2026, via email to [email protected], with [email protected] copied.

Required documents include a curriculum vitae of no more than two pages, a one-page statement of purpose, certified copies of university transcripts, a letter of endorsement from the applicant's academic institution or Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and proof of health insurance enrollment.

During the programme, interns will be expected to assist with research, report writing, translation, meeting preparation, and documentation management.

The Ministry encouraged qualified candidates to review the full terms and conditions outlined in the official OPANAL internship document before submitting an application.
