The Department of the Blue Economy has launched a mural and poster art competition for children aged 7 to 11, marking Ocean Month 2026 with an initiative aimed at both creative expression and environmental awareness.
Announced in collaboration with the Ministry of Education's Education Broadcasting Unit and other partners, the competition invites young participants to depict their interpretation of the blue economy through art. Themes include marine life and ocean conservation.
Organizers designed the competition to inspire creativity while raising awareness about the importance of oceans and marine ecosystems. The stakes are meaningful — the winning artwork will be transformed into a public mural, giving the selected child a lasting contribution to the wider community.
Submissions opened on April 13 and close on May 7. The winner will be announced on June 8 in observance of World Ocean Day.
Entries may be submitted via email or delivered in person. Participants are encouraged to review official guidelines before submitting.
The department is calling on parents, teachers and guardians to support children's participation, describing the competition as an opportunity to nurture the next generation of artists, innovators and environmental stewards.
