Kendra Beazer, the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate for Barbuda, has pledged to place community welfare above all else if elected, declaring that true leadership must be rooted in service rather than self-interest.
According to Antigua.news, Beazer made the commitment during his campaign launch, telling supporters he does not take the responsibility lightly and will represent Barbudans with integrity throughout the electoral process.
"I vow to represent your best interest at every point in this journey," Beazer said.
The candidate urged residents to carefully weigh what is at stake in the April 30 general elections, framing the vote as a choice about community wellbeing rather than partisan loyalty. "You are electing a representative to look out for your best interest, not somebody that is going to look out for themselves," he told those gathered.
Beazer described his campaign as a "labour movement for the people of Barbuda," built on the principles of unity, resilience and community empowerment. He was clear that division has no place in his platform. "We are not a platform of division or hate. We are about love, community and resilience," he said.
The candidate also argued that Barbuda's distinct needs must be given proper weight in national decision-making, stating that a "one size fits all" approach falls short of what the island requires.
Closing his remarks, Beazer called on voters to participate actively in the democratic process. "On April 30, you will have your opportunity to elect a representative who truly represents your interests," he said.
Beazer will face Barbuda People's Movement candidate Trevor Walker in what is expected to be a closely watched contest.
