The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) has advised the public of increased military activity across the twin-island nation as it prepares to conduct a large-scale training exercise from April 13 to 17, 2026. According to Antigua News Room, the exercise, dubbed "Exercise Daybreak," forms part of the Force's preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The exercise will involve participation from regional and international partners, including the defence forces of St. Kitts and Nevis and Barbados, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the Regional Security System (RSS) Headquarters. Various local government agencies in Antigua and Barbuda will also take part.
Throughout the five-day exercise, military operations will be conducted at multiple locations across Antigua and Barbuda. Members of the public may notice a heightened military presence, with soldiers engaged in simulated real-world scenarios.
The ABDF has moved to reassure residents that the activity is entirely planned and routine in nature. "There is no cause for alarm," the Force stated, adding that it appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the public during this period.
