Prime Minister Gaston Browne says the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party's recent campaign launch attracted significantly larger crowds than its previous election cycle, citing the turnout as evidence of growing support ahead of the upcoming general election.

According to Antigua News Room, Browne made the remarks on the Browne and Browne Show, stating that attendance at the event was "at least twice" that of the party's 2023 launch.

"I think indeed it was epic. The attendance from what I've seen would have been at least twice the amount of individuals who we had at the launch leading up to the 2023 elections," Browne said.

The Prime Minister described the atmosphere at the event as "electric," characterising it as a reflection of heightened enthusiasm among supporters and stronger backing than the party enjoyed in the previous election cycle.

Browne also highlighted the introduction of 10 new candidates at the launch, framing the additions as part of a broader effort to refresh the party's lineup and attract younger talent to its ranks.

"So it is evident now that we have stronger support than the last general elections," he said.

The Prime Minister linked the increased turnout to what he described as the party's record in office and its ongoing efforts to expand economic opportunities for Antiguans and Barbudans.

The ABLP is expected to continue ramping up campaign activities in the coming weeks as political parties intensify their engagement ahead of the anticipated election.
