Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been re-elected unopposed as political leader of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), cementing his position at the helm of the ruling party as general elections approach. According to Antigua.news, the announcement came during the party's national convention held on Sunday.
Delegates at the convention also confirmed that E.P. Chet Greene will retain his position as Party Chairman. The gathering brought together party supporters, candidates, and senior officials, who endorsed a unified slate of executives — a showing that signals stability within the ABLP ahead of the April 30 polls.
The full executive slate confirmed at the convention is as follows: Chairman, E.P. Chet Greene; First Vice Chairman, Daryll Matthew; Second Vice Chairman, Clement Antonio; Third Vice Chairman, Donna Chaia; Treasurer, Abena St. Luce; General Secretary, Shenella Govia; Supervisor of Elections, Mary Edwards; and Public Relations Officer, Angelica O'Donoghue.
Additional appointments included Hilroy Humphreys, Alincia Williams-Grant, and Sir Molwyn Joseph as Trustees, and Sir Lionel Max Hurst as Tribunal Chairman. The Labour Advisory Committee will be chaired by the ABLP Chairman, with the President of the Antigua and Barbuda Trades and Labour Union serving as Deputy Chairman, alongside senior labour representatives as members.
The convention also took time to honour long-serving party stalwarts. Outgoing General Secretary Mary Clare Hurst was recognised for 13 years of dedicated service and conferred with the title of General Secretary in tribute to her tenure. Sir Molwyn Joseph received special recognition for over four decades of contribution to national development and service to the party.
All resolutions, including the full executive slate, were unanimously adopted by delegates — a strong show of internal unity as the ABLP formally shifts into campaign mode ahead of the upcoming general elections.
