Supporters of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) gathered at the party's convention in a show of unity and political momentum, with a formal tribute to party leader and Prime Minister Gaston Browne forming the centrepiece of the high-energy event.
ABLP Chairman E.P. Chet Greene delivered the tribute, praising Browne's stewardship through some of the most challenging global and national circumstances in recent history. Greene pointed to what he described as decisive governance and economic resilience as hallmarks of the Prime Minister's tenure.
"Employment is at the highest level in our history, unemployment at the lowest ever… these are not slogans, these are facts," Greene declared, framing those achievements as the foundation of what the party has branded a national "Renaissance."
Greene credited Browne with maintaining stability when it mattered most, arguing that Antigua and Barbuda emerged from recent global pressures with record employment levels, growing business confidence, and expanding opportunities. He was emphatic that these gains were not accidental. "In these difficult times, he has brought prudent financial stewardship and strong, steady leadership to the government of Antigua and Barbuda," Greene said, drawing applause from the crowd.
The tribute also placed Browne's leadership within a broader global context. Greene warned that increasing instability, rising prices, and shifting economic conditions make experienced leadership especially critical for small states like Antigua and Barbuda. Party supporters were urged to choose continuity over uncertainty.
"We choose progress. We choose stability. We choose advancement," Greene declared, drawing loud cheers from attendees.
The convention reinforced the ABLP's campaign messaging ahead of the upcoming general elections, positioning Browne as central to what the party describes as the country's next phase of development.
