The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has announced that a new shipment of essential building materials is expected to arrive in the country next week, bolstering the government's ongoing programme to improve housing conditions for vulnerable and low-income households.
According to Antigua News Room, the shipment follows Cabinet approval, granted several months ago, of measures aimed at strengthening housing assistance efforts nationwide. The materials are intended to provide timely relief and accelerate much-needed repairs and improvements across the country.
The supplies will directly address urgent structural needs faced by less fortunate households, including roof repairs, reinforcement works, and the replacement of rotting boards and leaking structures — helping residents live in homes free from deterioration and unsafe conditions.
Island-wide distributions of lumber and other building supplies to eligible homeowners have already begun under the programme. Priority recipients include senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and families facing economic hardship.
