Public servants in Antigua and Barbuda are set to receive all outstanding back pay by the end of April, as the government enters the final phase of disbursements, according to Antigua News Room.

The Treasury Department confirmed that payments are already underway, with some ministries fully settled as of April 2 and a further round scheduled by April 10.

The retroactive payments arise from union agreements that resulted in salary increases and improved benefits for public sector workers. The payments cover the period from 2019 to 2023, following adjustments that took effect in January 2024.

Most public sector employees who were on staff up to December 31, 2023 are eligible to receive the payments, as are some former employees. However, parliamentarians, ministers, and judges are excluded from the disbursements.

All payments are being made via direct bank transfer with no taxes deducted, including any outstanding balances owed to workers who previously received only partial sums.

As reported by Antigua News Room, officials stated that final statements will be issued once the process is complete. The Treasury urged eligible recipients to remain patient as verification checks continue, and encouraged former workers who have not yet received payment to contact the department directly.
