The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has announced the availability of scholarship opportunities offered by the People's Republic of China for the 2026 academic year.
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Antigua and Barbuda has formally advised of two programmes now open to qualified nationals: the Dalian Maritime University Chinese Government Transportation Scholarship and the MOFCOM Scholarship Programme.
Under the Dalian Maritime University scholarship, two Antiguan and Barbudan students will be selected to pursue Master's degree studies in China. The scholarship covers full tuition, application fees, and on-campus accommodation, along with a monthly stipend and comprehensive medical insurance. The programme runs for two academic years. International travel expenses are not included.
The MOFCOM Scholarship Programme offers a broader range of opportunities, including approximately 40 university programmes and one CSC programme across various disciplines. These provide avenues for advanced academic and professional development at leading Chinese institutions.
Applications must be submitted online through the respective university portals or designated scholarship platforms. The deadline for the Dalian Maritime University programme is April 20, 2026, while the MOFCOM Scholarship Programme deadline is May 15, 2026.
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda is responsible for submitting a diplomatic note with a list of recommended candidates as part of the formal application process. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply early to allow sufficient time for national review and endorsement.
The scholarships form part of the ongoing cooperation between Antigua and Barbuda and the People's Republic of China, reflecting a shared commitment to capacity building, education, and human resource development.
