United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Kelvin "Shugy" Simon has declared his confidence in retaining his St Mary's South constituency seat, pushing back against any doubts surrounding his candidacy.
According to Antigua News Room, Simon made the remarks while addressing supporters at Freedom Hall on Tuesday, where he reflected on his political journey and outlined his ambitions for the upcoming general election.
Simon credited his constituents with shaping him into a formidable political force, describing his transformation from a political newcomer into what he called a "political beast." He pointed to his previous victory over a long-standing incumbent — achieved within just three months — as a defining moment in his career.
"Together, we created history… the only branch to win two elections in a single calendar year," Simon said.
The UPP candidate made clear that past victories have only sharpened the party's appetite for more. "We are not done. We want more… we did it twice before, and we will do it again," he said, reaffirming both his personal commitment to the constituency and the party's broader electoral ambitions.
