Barbuda political candidate Kendra Beazer says residents are ready to move past political division and focus on tangible progress, as he outlined a development agenda centred on education, entrepreneurship and expanded access to resources.
According to Antigua News Room, Beazer made the remarks during a campaign interview in which he stressed that the community's priorities have shifted decisively toward growth and opportunity.
"Persons are tired of division, they're tired of stagnation, they're tired of delay. They want to see progress. They want to see development," Beazer said.
His vision for Barbuda focuses on broadening freedoms and creating pathways for residents to thrive. "This new era looks at extending those freedoms that Barbudans enjoy — access to more educational opportunities, access to financing to start up businesses that are innovative, value to the community of Barbuda," he said.
Beazer placed particular emphasis on education, describing it as foundational to both personal and national advancement. "Education is your passport towards a better future. Without education, you're nothing. You don't know how to run your business. You don't know how to manage your finances," he said.
He urged Barbudans at all stages of life to pursue learning in every form available, from short courses to advanced degrees. "Anybody that is thinking about pursuing education — go for it. Don't limit yourself, don't limit your capacity, continue to learn," he said.
Beazer also spoke to the need for greater physical access to educational institutions on the island itself, noting that Barbudans should not have to look elsewhere to further their studies. "For the future, what we would like to see is for more physical entities to be in Barbuda, so that Barbudans can be included as much as possible into our overall educational system," he said.
His remarks come as campaigning intensifies ahead of the upcoming general election, with parties across Antigua and Barbuda presenting competing visions for the nation's development.
