Two hair growth serum products sold on Amazon have been recalled due to packaging that fails to meet child safety requirements, posing a serious poisoning risk to young children.
According to Antigua News Room, the affected products — Tuymec's Minoxidil Hair Growth Spray and Tecflox Hair and Beard Growth Serum — both contain minoxidil, a substance that falls under the requirements of the U.S. Poison Prevention Packaging Act and must be sold in child-resistant packaging. Approximately 6,200 units have been recalled.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a stark warning about the danger the products present. "The hair serum's packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children," the agency stated.
The recalled products were available on Amazon.com between June 2025 and August 2025, retailing at approximately $24 each.
The CPSC is urging consumers who purchased either product to immediately secure the bottles out of sight and reach of children. Affected customers are also advised to contact the product distributors directly to obtain free replacement bottles with compliant packaging.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.
