St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda — The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is continuing its investigation into a serious traffic collision on Pares Main Road that left four people hospitalised, including a minor, following an Easter Monday crash.
The incident, which occurred on April 6, involved a white Toyota Hiace motor van and a white Honda Accord motor car. Investigators allege that the driver of the Honda Accord was travelling at a high rate of speed from east to west and overtook a line of traffic. During the manoeuvre, the vehicle struck the Toyota Hiace, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
The impact injured four individuals, including a minor. Emergency Medical Services personnel transported all four to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where they remain hospitalised with multiple serious injuries.
The minor, a 63-year-old male, and an 18-year-old male are reported to be in stable condition. Doctors are continuing efforts to stabilise the driver of the Honda Accord. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The Police Administration is urging all motorists to exercise caution on the nation's roads and to avoid dangerous driving practices that put lives at risk.
