The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) Water Business Unit is continuing maintenance work on sections of the ageing water distribution network in the Point Area, with crews currently focused on North Street in St. John's, according to Antigua.news.
Work crews remained active throughout the Easter weekend as part of a phased programme aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of the distribution system. The repairs target longstanding infrastructure deficiencies that have contributed to leaks and recurring service interruptions across the area.
As the project advances, teams are expected to shift operations to Newgate Street, with work projected to reach the vicinity of the Police Station and the Market Street junction by Monday. Residents and businesses in and around those locations should anticipate temporary service disruptions while the upgrades and repairs are carried out.
APUA has assured customers that the work is critical to strengthening the distribution network and reducing the frequency of future outages.
The utility authority says it is making every effort to complete the repairs as efficiently as possible and restore normal service in the shortest time practicable.
In the meantime, customers are being urged to store adequate water supplies and practise conservation where possible.
