The Antigua Public Utilities Authority's Water Business Unit is advising residents that maintenance works on aging distribution infrastructure in the Point Area are ongoing, with crews currently focused on North Street in St. John's, according to Antigua News Room.
Work crews remained active along North Street throughout the Easter weekend as part of a phased programme to address longstanding infrastructure challenges in the area. The upgrades are aimed at improving the overall reliability and efficiency of the water distribution network.
As reported by Antigua News Room, teams are expected to advance along Newgate Street, with the goal of reaching the vicinity of the Police Station and the Market Street junction by Monday, April 6, 2026. Customers in and around these areas should anticipate temporary service disruptions while crews carry out the necessary upgrades and repairs.
APUA has moved to reassure affected customers that the works are essential to strengthening the distribution system's integrity and reducing the frequency of leaks and service interruptions over the long term.
The authority says its teams are committed to working as efficiently as possible to minimise inconvenience and restore normal service in the shortest time practicable.
In the meantime, APUA is encouraging customers to store adequate water supplies and practise conservation where possible. The authority also thanked residents for their patience and continued understanding during the works.
