The inquest into the deaths of 17-year-old Omarie Lewis and 18-year-old Brianna Clarke — both killed in Villa — has concluded, with Prime Minister Gaston Browne indicating the findings do not point to gang-related violence, according to Antigua.news.
Browne said he has been briefed on the inquest's conclusions but will await an official update from police before publicly disclosing further details. He was clear, however, that the double homicide was not connected to gang activity or gun violence.
As reported by Antigua.news, authorities confirmed last week that two persons of interest — a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old — are currently in custody as investigators continue probing the case.
Lewis and Clarke, both residents of Hand Street, were found unresponsive outside their home in Villa after police received reports of a shooting at approximately 10:30 a.m. on a Thursday morning. Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the Serious Crimes Unit, the Forensic Evidence Recovery Unit, and the St. John's Police Station responded to the scene.
A medical doctor subsequently pronounced both teenagers dead at 11:53 a.m. and 11:54 a.m., respectively.
Investigations are ongoing. Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in the case. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact the CID at 462-3913 or reach the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline at 800-TIPS (8477). Authorities have assured that all information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
