Residents seeking expanded access to primary healthcare services will need to wait a little longer, as the Ministry of Health has pushed back the launch of extended clinic hours at two community health centres.

The initiative, originally scheduled to begin April 1, will now take effect on April 13, 2026, to allow for final logistical and operational preparations.

Once in place, Gray's Farm Health Centre and Clare Hall Health Centre will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. The extended hours are designed to improve access to care, particularly for patients who require evening services.

Health officials describe the move as part of a broader strategy to strengthen community-based healthcare and reduce pressure on the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Patients requiring advanced treatment will continue to be referred appropriately, with ambulance services available where necessary.
