The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has issued a formal statement calling on citizens to support Prime Minister Gaston Browne's government in the upcoming general elections, according to Antigua News Room, which carried the statement following a press briefing.
The Cabinet's statement points to what it describes as twelve years of exceptional national progress under Prime Minister Browne's leadership, crediting his administration with positioning Antigua and Barbuda as a resilient small state capable of navigating complex global challenges.
"Prime Minister Gaston Browne's steady hand, strategic foresight, and his team's unwavering commitment to national development have positioned our nation as a resilient and forward-moving small state, capable of navigating uncertainty while delivering tangible results for our people," the statement reads.
The Cabinet argues that the current global climate — marked by economic volatility, climate threats, and shifting geopolitical realities — makes experienced leadership especially critical for small developing nations such as Antigua and Barbuda.
"The importance of experienced, focused, and transformational leadership cannot be overstated," the statement declares, adding that the country must remain anchored by a government that is "resilient, innovative, and prepared to safeguard our gains."
Framing the approaching election as a defining moment, the Cabinet urged all citizens to fulfil their civic duty at the polls. The statement specifically called on residents to validate their voter identification cards and prepare to cast their ballots in support of continued progress under the Browne administration.
"The Cabinet urges you to get your cards validated and get ready to proceed with focus and a shared commitment to advancing the work of the Gaston Browne government for the benefit of all of Antigua and Barbuda," the statement concludes.
