The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has issued a public safety advisory ahead of the Easter holiday weekend, urging residents and visitors to act responsibly as officers increase patrols across the island.
According to Antigua News Room, police encouraged the public to remain aware of their surroundings and prioritize personal safety while taking part in holiday activities.
Beachgoers, campers, and sea bathers were advised to closely monitor weather conditions before entering the water. Authorities also called for special attention to be given to children and elderly individuals in public spaces.
Police issued a firm reminder that the sale of alcohol is strictly prohibited on Good Friday. Bar owners, vendors, and other business operators were warned that failure to comply with the law could result in the revocation of their liquor licences.
Officers also delivered a strong warning against drinking and driving, describing the practice as extremely dangerous. Motorists were encouraged to plan ahead by arranging designated drivers or using alternative transportation options.
The force stated that increased patrols throughout the weekend are aimed at maintaining a safe and peaceful environment for all.
