Governor General Sir Rodney Williams has formally dissolved the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda, setting the stage for a general election called by Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

According to Antigua Observer, the dissolution was effected by Statutory Instrument 2026, No. 33, dated 31st March 2026, with the proclamation taking effect on Wednesday, 1st April 2026.

The move marks the official constitutional trigger for a general election, which Prime Minister Browne has declared as part of his bid to seek a renewed mandate from the electorate.
