KAMPALA, Uganda — A man armed with a machete killed four young children at a nursery school in the Ugandan capital of Kampala on Thursday, according to police. According to Antigua News Room, the attacker gained access to the Gaba Early Childhood Development Program before carrying out the deadly assault.
The man reportedly disguised himself as a parent to enter the school premises. Citing eyewitness accounts, the local Daily Monitor newspaper reported that the suspect first entered the school offices, where he briefly engaged an administrator, before stepping outside, locking the gate, and beginning to attack the children one by one.
Police spokesman Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that at least four children died in the attack. The motive remains unknown. Authorities have since arrested the suspect.
Such attacks are rare in Kampala, a city of approximately three million people.
