The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is reminding the public that the sale of alcohol is strictly prohibited on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, under the Licensing (Intoxicating Liquor) (Amendment) Act, No. 9 of 2014.

Under the provisions of the Act, all licensed premises where intoxicating liquor is sold, exposed, or kept for retail sale must remain closed to the public for the entire day. Exceptions apply only to establishments operating under a hotel licence, tavern licence, or club licence.

The restriction takes effect from midnight on Thursday, April 2, and covers the entirety of Good Friday.

The Police Administration is urging all owners and operators of affected establishments to comply fully with the law. Failure to do so may result in the revocation of licences and additional legal action under the laws of Antigua and Barbuda.

The full cooperation of the general public is expected and appreciated.
