Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate for St. Mary's South, Dwayne George, has firmly rejected claims that the Bolans playing field is unfit for use, pointing to a recently played football match as direct evidence of the facility's operational status.
According to Antigua News Room, George issued a public statement citing a match between the Bolans Football Club and Potters Football Club held at the field — the same facility that critics had described as "mash up" and unfit for play. George noted the game proceeded without incident.
"Not only was the match played, but it was played under proper lighting," George said in his statement. He credited the newly installed lighting at the venue to the efforts of the ABLP, adding that both players and spectators were able to participate fully in the event.
George challenged the credibility of those questioning the field's condition, arguing that organised football activity would not have been possible had the facility been truly unplayable. He maintained that the improvements visible at the site reflect ongoing development under the current administration.
"Progress is visible, and the people are benefiting," George said.
The condition of community sporting facilities has become a point of political contention in the lead-up to the election, with competing narratives emerging over infrastructure standards and maintenance levels across constituencies.
