Malaka Parker, the United Progressive Party candidate for St. John's Rural North, has released her full constituency canvassing schedule, pledging to reach voters across every community despite the compressed timeline imposed by the snap election call.
Parker's schedule spans daily engagements from morning to night, reflecting what she describes as a campaign driven by purpose and community presence rather than political convenience.
She was pointed in her criticism of the decision to call snap elections. "Snap elections are not about you. It's about them and a thirst for power and total domination," Parker said. "This election should be about the issues — about policies, about plans to structurally ease the cost of living on your families, or ease the pressure of our dilapidated roads on your vehicles and your pocket."
Parker acknowledged that the shortened campaign period limits voters' ability to properly evaluate their candidates, but said it would not slow her down. "They do not care for you to assess your potential representatives and make an informed decision," she said. "Still, I will do my best to reach as many homes in Rural North as I am able. I will be on the trail day and night. I am undaunted. I am committed. I am yours."
Her campaign has identified cost of living pressures and long-neglected road infrastructure as central issues facing Rural North residents. Parker says her door-to-door canvassing is designed to listen directly to constituents and build a platform grounded in their lived experiences.
As voting day approaches, Parker is urging residents to stay focused on substance. "This moment calls for clarity, courage, and community," she said. "Not gimmicks. Not distractions. But real leadership that puts people first."
