ST. JOHN'S, Antigua — Members of the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) have successfully completed an intensive public affairs training course designed to strengthen communication capacity and operational readiness, according to Antigua News Room.

The programme was led by an expert team from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and delivered in collaboration with personnel from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) and other government agencies.

Participants received hands-on instruction in media relations, strategic messaging, and public communication. The training placed particular emphasis on responding effectively within fast-moving information environments — a critical skill during active disaster response operations.

The course was held at Camp Blizzard and was structured to build individual capacity while reinforcing the role of coordinated communication in both disaster response and broader public affairs operations.

Officials noted that the initiative also highlighted the value of international partnerships in driving professional development across government agencies.
