According to Antigua News Room, the letter charges that Simon's constituency office remained closed and inaccessible throughout his tenure, leaving residents without a formal point of contact for representation or redress. The writer argues that the sudden opening of the office, timed to coincide with an approaching election, amounts to a betrayal of the public trust.
"For over two years, that office sat closed, useless, and absent — just like the representation the people were promised," the letter states. "No access. No accountability. No presence."
The author does not mince words in their characterisation of the move, calling it a "blatant political gimmick" and accusing Simon of hypocrisy. They contend that no effort was made to address constituents' concerns during the intervening period, and that the last-minute gesture should not be mistaken for genuine service.
"You cannot abandon the people for years and then show up at the final hour expecting trust," the letter reads.
The writer appeals directly to voters, urging them not to be swayed by what they describe as theatrical gestures designed to manufacture goodwill. "Real representation is consistent — it doesn't show up only when votes are needed," the letter concludes.
