The government has launched a nationwide road rehabilitation programme, deploying heavy equipment and round-the-clock crews to tackle deteriorating road conditions across multiple communities.
The Ministry of Public Works, led by Minister Maria Bird Brown, says the initiative targets long-standing infrastructure problems that have burdened commuters, driven up vehicle maintenance costs, and raised serious safety concerns. Communities including Seaton's Hill, Fry's Hill, Bendals, and Glanvilles are among those earmarked for resurfacing and full rehabilitation works.
Central to the programme is the long-criticised All Saints Road, with works expected to begin shortly.
Officials say overnight operations will be expanded to accelerate progress and minimise disruption to daily traffic. The move signals a clear shift from planning to execution in what the government is billing as a comprehensive, island-wide road repair push.
