Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers has returned to Antigua and Barbuda following his participation in the Regional Security System Chiefs of Security Meeting held in St. Lucia — his first regional engagement since assuming the role of Commissioner.
According to Antigua.news, Jeffers travelled on March 24 for the two-day summit, which took place on March 25 and 26 and was chaired by St. Lucia's Acting Commissioner of Police, Ronald Phillip.
Security leaders from across the region gathered alongside international partners, including representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, CARICOM IMPACS, and CDEMA. Discussions covered a broad range of pressing issues, including maritime awareness, progress on the RSS Logistics Hub, and strategies to strengthen the region's disaster response capabilities.
Delegates also examined the Justice Protection Act, the application of Artificial Intelligence in policing, and matters relating to energy security. RSS Directors provided updates on ongoing programmes and outlined future priorities for the organisation.
Commissioner Jeffers described the meeting as a valuable opportunity for regional collaboration, stating that the discussions yielded fresh ideas to support both national security and the operations of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.
Jeffers returned home on March 27. During his absence, Deputy Commissioner Louisa Benjamin-Quashie served as Acting Commissioner.
