Opposition MP Richard Lewis has expressed strong confidence that he will retain his St. John's Rural West seat in the upcoming general elections, declaring his record in office has secured him continued constituent support.
According to Antigua.news, Lewis made the declaration during Friday's Parliament proceedings, stating he intends to stand firmly on his performance as their representative.
"I stand here proud and can run on my record," Lewis said, asserting his certainty that once votes are cast and counted, he will be returned to the House of Representatives.
Lewis argued that his tenure has been defined by service and delivery, telling parliamentary colleagues that he has consistently acted in the best interests of those he represents. He maintained that this track record has already resonated with constituents in the constituency.
The MP went further, suggesting the political outcome in Rural West is all but settled, declaring that residents have "made up their minds" and are not shifting their allegiance.
