Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced that the government expects to significantly increase national water production by the end of the year, as authorities continue efforts to address longstanding supply challenges across Antigua.
According to Antigua News Room, Browne made the announcement during his weekly Browne and Browne radio programme, stating that daily output is projected to reach approximately 14 million gallons.
"We will be producing about 14 million gallons of water per day by the end of the year," Browne said, outlining the administration's plans to expand capacity.
The Prime Minister said the increase will be driven by continued investments in reverse osmosis plants and other water infrastructure, with the goal of improving both reliability and distribution across the island.
Browne added that the expanded output is intended to ease persistent shortages affecting several communities and to keep pace with growing demand.
The announcement comes as the government continues to roll out upgrades to the water sector amid ongoing public concern over supply interruptions and distribution issues.
