A four-months pregnant American woman of Antiguan descent is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to a cannabis possession charge at V.C. Bird International Airport. According to Antigua Observer, the incident occurred Wednesday as the woman was preparing to depart the island.

Keishell Labeach, 40, had been visiting family in Antigua when airport security personnel at the oversized baggage area made the discovery, as reported by Antigua Observer. Labeach, who holds American nationality, was intercepted before she could board her departing flight.

The guilty plea means Labeach now awaits a sentencing determination from the court. Her pregnancy and familial ties to Antigua are among the circumstances surrounding the case.
