Police have identified the woman found dead inside a vehicle in the Freetown area last Friday evening as 48-year-old Karen Pigott of Wireless Road. According to Antigua.news, authorities responded to the scene shortly after 6:20 p.m. on March 27 following reports of a motor vehicle that had driven into a hedge along a by-road in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located a grey Toyota Ractis stationary on the eastern side of the roadway. Pigott was found slumped in the driver's seat and unresponsive.
Emergency Medical Services personnel were summoned and conducted initial examinations at the scene, but detected no signs of life. A medical doctor subsequently attended and officially pronounced Pigott dead at approximately 8:05 p.m.
Investigators have indicated that foul play is not suspected at this time. However, inquiries remain ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Police Administration has extended its condolences to Pigott's family and loved ones as they grieve her sudden passing.
The incident has drawn concern among residents in the wider St. John's area as police continue their investigation into what led to the tragic discovery on Friday evening.
