The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is investigating a fatal traffic collision that claimed the life of a 35-year-old man on Friday evening along Crabbs Main Road.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 27, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of the Crabbs Economic Zone. Officers arriving at the scene found a silver Honda CR-V that had collided with a tree on the southern side of the roadway.
Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was travelling north to south at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and veered off the road. The vehicle reportedly overturned several times before coming to a stop.
Firefighters from the All Saints Fire Department responded to the scene and deployed hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate the driver, who was found unconscious. Emergency Medical Services personnel transported him to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:30 p.m.
The deceased has been identified as Charles Paul Rippon of Fitches Creek.
The Police Administration extended sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Rippon.
The force is again urging motorists to exercise caution on the nation's roads and to adhere to all traffic laws, particularly speed limits. The investigation is ongoing.
