Police have taken two men into custody in connection with the double homicide of a teenage couple killed in the Villa area on Thursday morning.
The suspects, aged 19 and 24, are currently being questioned by investigators in connection with the shooting deaths of 17-year-old Omarie Lewis and 18-year-old Brianna Clarke, both of Hans Street. The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda announced the detentions in a press statement.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on March 26, multiple police units responded to reports of gunfire in the Villa area. Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the Serious Crimes Unit, the Forensic Evidence Recovery Unit (FERU), and St. John's Police Station were all dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found both victims lying motionless outside their home. A medical doctor pronounced them dead shortly before noon.
Residents have described the attack as brazen and execution-style, believed to have been carried out in a drive-by shooting. The killings have sparked widespread grief and outrage, reigniting concerns about escalating gun violence in the country.
Investigations remain active. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the CID at 462-3913, or to submit tips anonymously through Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477). Authorities have extended condolences to the families of both victims.
