Randy Baltimore has officially taken his seat in the Lower House of Parliament, marking a new era of representation for the constituency of St Philip North following the retirement of veteran parliamentarian Sir Robin Yearwood.
According to Antigua.news, Baltimore was sworn in during a ceremony on Friday morning, where he took the oath of allegiance and joined fellow government members on the Antigua Labour Party benches.
His entry into Parliament follows his victory in the March 16 by-election, in which he secured the constituency seat by defeating United Progressive Party candidate Alex Browne.
The new MP received a warm welcome from both sides of the chamber, including Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle, as he formally assumed his place among the elected representatives.
In a further development, Baltimore has also been elected Deputy Speaker of the House, stepping into the role previously held by Sir Robin Yearwood, who has since retired from frontline politics.
