An Old Road man charged with cultivating nearly 400 cannabis plants valued at over $232,000 has been granted bail under strict conditions, according to Antigua.news.

Shawn Richards appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday, represented by attorney Damien Benjamin. The court released Richards on bail set at $250,000, requiring a $10,000 cash component and two Antiguan sureties.

The conditions governing his release are extensive. Richards must report daily to Johnson's Point Police Station between 6am and 6pm, and is required to continue residing in Old Road for the duration of the proceedings. He is also barred from communicating with or interfering with any potential witnesses. A travel ban has additionally been imposed.

Richards faces three charges — cultivating, possessing, and being concerned with supplying 377 cannabis plants carrying a combined street value of $232,000. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 21st in the Crab Hill area.

The case has been adjourned to May 27th for committal.
