A man accused of cultivating nearly 400 cannabis plants with a street value exceeding $230,000 has been granted bail under strict conditions, according to Antigua News Room.
Shawn Richards, of Old Road, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday, where bail was set at $250,000. The terms require a $10,000 cash payment and two local sureties.
As conditions of his release, Richards must report daily to Johnson's Point Police Station between 06:00 and 18:00. He is further required to remain at his Old Road residence, is subject to a travel ban, and must not contact or interfere with any witnesses in the case.
Richards faces three charges: cultivating, possessing, and being concerned in the supply of 377 cannabis plants. The estimated street value of the haul stands at $232,000.
The charges stem from an incident in the Crab Hill area on 21 March. The case has been adjourned to 27 May for committal.
