The Barbuda Branch of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) is demanding the Chair of Finance of the Barbuda Council urgently implement a long-promised 5% salary increase for all council workers.

According to Antigua News Room, government workers across Antigua and Barbuda have already received the approved salary adjustment, yet Barbuda Council workers remain excluded. The ABLP argues this disparity represents an unacceptable inequity among public servants and risks damaging workforce morale on the island.

ABLP Political Candidate Kendra Beazer stressed the need for fairness and consistency across all levels of public service.

"Council workers are the backbone of Barbuda's local governance and community services. They deserve the same recognition and fair treatment as their counterparts across Antigua and Barbuda. The 5% increase is not just a promise — it is a right that must be honored without delay," Beazer stated.

The ABLP Barbuda Branch is calling on the Barbuda Council to act decisively by implementing the salary increase immediately, aligning its policies with national standards, and demonstrating a clear commitment to the welfare and dignity of its workers.

The Branch maintains the issue is one of fundamental fairness, insisting that council workers in Barbuda must not be overlooked while national commitments are being fulfilled elsewhere.

The ABLP Barbuda Branch reaffirmed its support for Barbuda's workforce and called for swift action to resolve the matter in the interest of justice and good governance.
