The Labour Department has issued a correction to the official 2026 public holiday list, advising the general public that an error appeared in Official Gazette numbers 60 and 61 regarding the date of the National Day of Prayer. The corrected date is September 10, 2026.
The amendment, issued by the Office of the Labour Commissioner under the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Public Safety, Immigration and Labour, supersedes the previously published information. The full corrected list of public holidays for Antigua and Barbuda, as regulated under the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2005, is as follows:
January 1 — New Year's Day; April 3 — Good Friday; April 6 — Easter Monday; May 4 — Labour Day; May 25 — Whit Monday; August 3 — Carnival Monday; August 4 — Carnival Tuesday; September 10 — National Day of Prayer; November 1 — Independence Day; December 9 — V.C. Bird Day; December 25 — Christmas Day; December 26 — Boxing Day.
The Labour Department also notes that although Independence Day falls on Sunday, November 1, 2026, it will be observed on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Members of the public, employers, and businesses are asked to take note of the correction and update their records accordingly.
