Five men convicted on separate firearms offences have had their custodial sentences reduced following a successful appeal before the Court of Appeal, according to Antigua Observer.
Attorneys Wendel Alexander and Andrew Okola jointly argued the appeal on behalf of the five men, securing the reductions in what marks a notable outcome in the local criminal justice system.
Among those granted relief was Oszie Kelvin Russell, known as 'Mongoose,' whose sentence related to possession of an unlicensed 9mm Glock 80 was among those reviewed and reduced by the court.
The joint appeal covered convictions arising from separate incidents, with the Court of Appeal ruling in favour of reduced sentences across all five cases. As reported by Antigua Observer, the successful legal challenge was mounted through the combined efforts of the two defence attorneys.
