Prime Minister Gaston Browne has signalled that general elections in Antigua and Barbuda could be held well ahead of schedule, declaring on his weekend radio programme that the vote will take place "within 90 days" — and potentially sooner.
According to Antigua Observer, Browne told listeners: "There will be general elections, I would say within…" — a statement that immediately shifts the country into election mode despite the next poll not being constitutionally required until 2028.
The announcement marks a significant departure from the expected electoral timeline, with the Prime Minister appearing to set the stage for an early dissolution of Parliament and a snap general election.
