Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been nominated unopposed to continue as Political Leader of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), as the ruling party prepares for its April 12 convention. According to Antigua News Room, the uncontested nomination signals unity within the party ahead of widely anticipated general elections in the coming months.
Party officials confirmed the executive will remain largely unchanged. E.P. Chet Greene returns as Chairman, with Samantha Marshall and Clement Antonio serving as First and Second Vice Chairpersons, respectively.
Donna Chaia has been added to the leadership team in the newly designated role of Third Vice Chairman, while Abena St. Luce will serve as Treasurer.
In the most notable personnel change, Senator Shenella Govia is set to replace long-serving General Secretary Senator Mary-Clare Hurst. Hurst is expected to transition into the honorary role of General Secretary Emeritus.
The April 12 convention will formally ratify the new leadership team and the party's slate of candidates for the next general election.
