Tattoo and body-piercing artist Oszie Kelvin Russell, known as "Mongoose," will serve a significantly reduced prison term after the Court of Appeal slashed his sentence from three-and-a-half years to one year and ten months.
According to Antigua News Room, the reduction followed a successful appeal mounted by attorneys Wendel Alexander and Andrew Okola, substantially lowering the penalty Russell received after pleading guilty to illegal firearm possession.
Russell had admitted to possessing an unlicensed 9mm Glock pistol, ten rounds of ammunition, and a suppressor. The charges arose from an early morning police operation at his Lightfoot home on April 22, 2025.
Officers arrived at the property at approximately 6:55 a.m. and reported that Russell attempted to throw an item from his bedroom window. Police recovered the firearm at the scene and later discovered the suppressor during a subsequent search of the property.
The 40-year-old father of two was taken into custody and formally sentenced three days later, on April 25, 2025.
