The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has finalised its complete slate of 17 candidates for the upcoming general elections, according to Antigua.news, as the party accelerates preparations for a vote expected within weeks.

The full candidate list has been endorsed by the party's executive and is awaiting formal ratification at the ABLP's convention scheduled for April 12. The slate includes returning incumbents as well as new candidates contesting seats across all constituencies.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne will seek re-election in St John's City West. Senior ministers Sir Steadroy Benjamin, E.P. Chet Greene, Charles Max Fernandez, and Melford Nicholas are also returning to defend their respective seats.

The complete list of candidates is as follows: Gaston Browne – St John's City West; Sir Steadroy Benjamin – St John's City South; E.P. Chet Greene – St Paul; Charles Max Fernandez – St John's Rural North; Melford Nicholas – St John's City East; Daryll Matthew – St John's Rural South; Maria Browne – St John's Rural East; Rawdon Turner – St Peter; Anthony Smith Jr. – All Saints West; Randy Baltimore – St Philip North; Michael Joseph – St John's Rural West; Michael Freeland – St George; Kiz Johnson – St Philip South; Lamin Newton – All Saints East and St Luke; Dwayne George – St Mary's South; Dr. Philmore Benjamin – St Mary's North; and Kendra Chamberlain Beazer – Barbuda.

With the convention date confirmed, the ABLP is expected to move fully into campaign mode as the country draws closer to a general election.
