ST. JOHN'S, Antigua — The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission is calling on eligible voters to replace their expired identification cards, according to Antigua News Room, detailing the requirements, documentation, and operating hours for registration units across the country.
Registration units will be open Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., as part of the commission's ongoing expired voter ID card replacement programme.
Voters must visit the registration unit in the constituency where their name appears on the electoral register and present their expired voter ID along with a valid government-issued identification. Officials may also request documents reflecting any change in marital status and proof of address, with residency subject to verification checks.
Those who have lost their expired voter ID cards are not exempt from the process. Such individuals must present a valid government-issued ID to complete their application.
As part of the update, applicants' demographic information may be refreshed, including a new photograph and signature. Fingerprint validation will also be conducted during the process.
The commission advises that replacement ID cards will be ready for collection at the respective constituency registration unit within two weeks of application. Expired cards will be retained by registration officers upon issuance of the new card.
The Electoral Commission has been urging citizens to complete the replacement process as part of broader efforts to maintain an accurate and current voters' register ahead of future elections.
