A historic water tank in Liberta has been fully restored following reconstruction works carried out by the Ministry of Works, St. Paul MP E.P. Chet Greene announced.
The more than century-old structure, located just outside the Gracehill Moravian Church, underwent repairs that have drawn an outpouring of appreciation from Liberta residents both at home and abroad.
Greene expressed "much thanks and appreciation" to the Ministry of Works for its rapid response and to contractor Vaughn Jackson for what he described as "skillful reconstruction work." The restoration, he said, has resonated deeply within the community.
"The historic landmark water tank in Liberta has been restored," Greene said in a statement. "I can say without fear of contradiction that every member of the Liberta community, at home and abroad, shares my gratitude and elation over the restoration of this landmark."
Following the repairs, the structure was repainted in bold national colours, adding a vibrant new dimension to the landmark's presence in the village.
Greene described the effort as preserving "a piece of our history," underscoring the cultural and historical significance of the site to the St. Paul community. The tank, which has stood for over 100 years, is considered a symbol of Liberta's heritage.
