A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck the northern Leeward Islands region on Thursday evening, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre.
As reported by Antigua News Room, the quake occurred at 6:46 p.m. local time at a depth of 10 kilometres, positioned approximately 236 kilometres north-northwest of Antigua and Barbuda.
The tremor was also recorded roughly 209 kilometres north of Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, and approximately 263 kilometres north of Brades, Montserrat.
No immediate reports of damage or impacts emerged from Antigua and Barbuda following the event.
The Seismic Research Centre cautioned that the data was automatically generated by computer algorithms and remains preliminary. Details are subject to revision pending further analysis.
